Energy in the Garden
In planning an inquiry-based science curriculum for small
children, it is important to remember that they see the world through
their own egocentric and very unique eyes. This photograph of one
of our Peabody "sun queens" illustrates this very well. We must
begin where they are, to ACCESS their knowledge base.
Inquiry-based science activities begin to open their eyes, to CONSTRUCT
their knowledge base.
Because children learn in different ways (kinesthetic, visual, auditory, and more),
inquiry-based and interdisciplinary curriculum allows the child to direct his/her own learning.
A wide variety of experiences ENRICH their knowledge base
and encourage their CREATIVE EXPRESSION.
