On
International Public Science Day 2002, the Peabody School family had a busy and
productive day. Our showcase celebration, video-conferencing, coincided
with an open house for the school. Thus many parents were able to view our
displays, watch the "dress rehearsal" for the video conferencing,
preview the website and talk with teachers about this year's curriculum project.
Here are some
photos of the children rehearsing for their video-conferencing. They were
excited to learn that you could perform for children in other schools across the
nation through the technology of the computer:
Our
video - conferencing was scheduled for 11:00 a.m. It began with a short
introduction from project coordinator, Jan MacKinnon, and a welcome from Kim
Lowther, representing Discovery Creek Children's Museum. Then Mr.
Havner's prekindergarten children performed a lively and informative song Mr.
Havner wrote in Spanish.
Then, Ms.
Joe's pre kindergartner's told about their seed experiments and what they
learned. They showed a bean plant which had just sprouted a baby bean!
Finally, Ms.
Chapman's kindergartners performed two songs. The first one was written
especially for today by music teacher, Ms. Rachel Cross.

lyrics for these songs, see: Songs Written for "Energy in the
Garden"
