How do plants grow?

Most  of the children knew that plants needed sun, water and dirt to grow.  Concepts of photosynthesis, the sun as a source of energy, energy transfer, were entirely new to them.   A variety of strategies were employed to further the children's understanding of plant growth and the role of the sun.  These strategies included:  hands-on activities, kinesthetic learning, songs, commercial worksheets from teacher resource guides, and very importantly, activities conceived and implemented by the staff of the Discovery Creek Children's Museum.
