Ready, Set, Grow

A Museum Program

at the

Discovery Creek Children's Museum

Grade Level:  This program is adaptable for grades pre-K -6.

Location:  The Stable at Glen Echo - 7300 MacArthur Boulevard, Glen Echo, Maryland 20812

Program Description:  Investigate plants and how humans and other animals get energy from them

Objectives:    At the conclusion of this program, students will be able to:

  • explain how plants give humans and other animals energy

  • discuss how -plants are important to humans and other animals

  • describe how to grow a seed into a plant

Program Outline:

    Indoor Activities

  • Play a parachute game to find objectives made from plants that we use to give us energy

  • Use human energy to make wheat berries into flour

    Outdoor Activities

  • Play a game in the garden to find all the plants that give energy to animals

  • Get your own garden started by planting a seed to take home and grow.
